VERGENNES — Vergennes police dealt with a variety of matters between Nov. 2 and 8, including reports of suspicious people and a number of traffic enforcement contacts.
During those seven days, Vergennes police:
• On Nov. 2 issued a no-trespass order to a Vergennes resident on behalf of Colchester police.
• On Nov. 3 stopped a motorist for driving 55 mph in a 30 mph West Main Street zone; as well as speeding, police cited the driver for operating without insurance, valid registration and valid license plates.
• On Nov. 3 issued a subpoena to a city resident on behalf of a court.
• On Nov. 3 ticketed a driver for driving with a civilly suspended license after speaking to him after seeing a car pull into St. Peter’s Cemetery on South Maple Street.
• On Nov. 4 ticketed a truck driver for excessive speed on West Main Street and cited him for false logbook entries.
• On Nov. 5 investigated drug activity in the area following a tip from an off-duty Vermont State Police trooper.
• On Nov. 6 checked out a report of gunfire in the Macdonough Drive area, but found nothing.
• On Nov. 7 dealt with a minor two-car accident at the intersection of Park and Main streets.
• On Nov. 7 went to West Addison to help VSP look for a suspicious man, who was not seen.
• On Nov. 7 helped a motorist get into a locked car at St. Peter’s Church.
• On Nov. 7 checked out a possible case of vandalism to a water fixture at St. Peter’s Cemetery and determined the water had been left on.
• On Nov. 8 looked for a man reported to be looking into cars near the post office and the Citizens Bank, but found no one.
• On Nov. 8 went to Walker Avenue to check a resident’s report of a drone stuck in a tree, a report that proved to be false.
