All workers, including myself, deserve paid sick days. I’ve worked at asmall business in Middlebury two days a week since December 2014. I don’t get paid sick days at the business, and my coworkers don’t get paid sick days either.
One employee there works full-time, but he has asthma and misses a lot ofwork. I cover for him. Another person I work with came in sick just this week because she couldn’t afford to miss work.
When people come in sick itcontaminates everyone else and the food. All workers should get this, no matter the size of the company.
I hope we can count on our senators to support workers in Addison County andvote yes on H.187, Healthy Workplace bill, in January so workers can earn paid sick days and keep the community healthier.
