Many locals tapped for North-South football game

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury College’s Alumni Stadium will host this Saturday’s 15th annual North-South Senior All-Star Football Game, and a dozen standouts from the area’s three high school football programs will be representing their schools.
Eight of those players will suit up for the South squad. Five of them are from the Division I runner-up Middlebury Union squad: Nick Beauchamp, Wyatt Laberge, Jerry Niemo, Sawyer Ryan and Ali Abdul Sater, all key two-way players for the 10-1 Tigers. Oakley Gordon was also named to the squad, but will not play because of injury.
Four members of the D-III champion Otter Valley team will join the Tigers on the South squad: Carson Leary, who rushed for more than 2,600 yards this season, and three of the linemen who paved the way for him: Tyler Allen, M.J. Denis and Trevor Peduto. All four also played both ways for OV.
Three two-way players who excelled for the D-II Mount Abraham/Vergennes collective will suit up for the North team: Jack Eisenhower, Matt Mullen and Ryan Paquin.
Kickoff will be at 12:30 p.m. for the 15th annual contest that concludes the fall Vermont high school athletic season. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and will be available at the gate starting an hour prior to game time. All proceeds benefit the scholarship and grant programs of the Vermont Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
