Jewish congregation hires education director

MIDDLEBURY — Havurah: The Addison County Jewish Congregation announces its new director of education, who also serves in the newly created position of Program & Outreach coordinator.
Sarit Katzew joins Havurah’s leadership team with an extensive and diverse Jewish background. She has served as a youth group adviser, led teen trips to Israel and worked for many years at Community Synagogue of Rye, N.Y. She has tutored b’nei mitvah students, and taught at all levels, including adult education. Katzew is fluent in Hebrew and holds a high holy day pulpit at a small congregation in Binghamton, N.Y., where she serves as soloist.
In recognition of this exciting time of new beginnings, Havurah invites all its members, and those interested in supporting a vibrant Jewish community in Addison County, to its Community Meeting & Dessert Potluck, on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at Havurah House, 56 North Pleasant St., Middlebury. Only handicap parking is available on site; all others are invited to use the parking lot generously provided at the Middlebury United Methodist Church at the intersection of North Pleasant and Seminary streets, or to park in town.
Join the congregation as they look toward the community’s future, and envision their long-term goals and aspirations. Those attending are asked to bring a delicious dessert to share, and more importantly, their insights and ideas to help be the architects of this vibrant Jewish community.
Havurah of Addison County is an inclusive, non-denominational Jewish community serving Vermont towns between Burlington and Rutland, including Middlebury, Addison, Waltham, Bristol, Cornwall, Brandon, Bridport and beyond. It is a volunteer-driven and lay-led congregation seeking to create unique Jewish experiences.
