VUHS students to present ‘The Addams Family’ Nov. 19-21

VERGENNES — The ghoulish and quirky Addams family is coming to town and will be brought to life by the talented cast of Vergennes Union High School as they present “The Addams Family, A New Musical Comedy” on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 19 and 20, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m. in the VUHS auditorium.
The story opens with the annual graveyard gathering of all Addams family members — living, dead and undecided. Uncle Fester, played by Eddie Haskell, enlists the help of the Ancestors’ explaining that Wednesday, played by Caitlin Walsh, has fallen in love with a “normal” boy named Lucas Beineke, played by Max Ratti-Bicknell, and has gone and invited Lucas and his parents to a family dinner.
Wednesday confides in her father, Gomez, played by Jeb Hodsden, that Lucas has proposed but swears him to secrecy. Gomez has never kept a secret from his wife, Morticia, played by Emma Gardner, in all the years they have been married, and he is torn.
Wednesday admits, while torturing Pugsley, played by Kobe Kessler, on a rack, that love is pulling her in a new direction. Meanwhile her parents, Morticia and Gomez, are worried about their daughter’s changing ways. It all comes to a head when Mal and Alice Beineke, played by Zeke Palmer and Emily Lalumiere, come to dinner.
The VUHS production of “The Addams Family” is directed by Bill Carmichael Walsh and choreographed by Susan Burk Walsh. The vocal director and  producer/conductor is Susan O’Daniel. “The Addams Family” was written by Andrew Lippa, Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.
Tickets, with reserved seating, are $12 for adults and $10 for students, and are available at Linda’s Apparel in Vergennes and at the high school auditorium lobby, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-noon and evenings. Tickets will also be available at the door. For more information, call VUHS at 877-2938.
