Note of appreciation: An accident reveals how good we have it here in Brandon

Yesterday a car drove into the front of my store, Hands-On Music. It was a surreal experience as I was about 10 feet from impact. Thankfully nobody was hurt, only a lot of glass and my entire display was strewn about the floor.
Still cleaning up, but I want to take a moment to thank several people for their enormous kindness in their response to this accident. First, Chief Brickell and the fire company, who were on hand in minutes professionally and calmly assessing the situation. Then Bernie Carr and others who immediately offered their help in any way. Several friends called, a couple of others simply showed up to be of service or support.
And of course, my wife, Alyssa, who went to Gourmet Provence to get me a coffee and decided a bottle of wine would also be appropriate for later. Thanks to Gourmet for the coffee, by the way!
All of this points out the obvious reasons why we chose to settle in Brandon back in 2003. Although people in small towns tend to relate to each other in a personal and empathetic way, Brandon is several steps above that. Time and time again over the years, we have experienced the incredibly giving and genuine spirit that we believe defines this town. It is the relationships that are most important, and the reason why we continue to feel we belong here.
Thank you.
