Tiger field hockey falls to No. 1 South Burlington
SOUTH BURLINGTON — The No. 1 South Burlington High School field hockey team ousted No. 8 Middlebury, 4-1, in a Friday Division I quarterfinal. The Tigers had advanced to the Friday’s game with a Wednesday first-round victory.
The 11-3-1 Rebels broke open a 2-1 game on Friday with a pair of second-half goals. Lauren Bartlett scored for MUHS, and Katie Billings made 10 saves as the Tigers finished at 5-10-1. Liz Sargent made six saves for the Rebels.
On Wednesday, the Tigers blanked visiting No. 9 Mount Anthony, 3-0, as Mikayla Humiston and Makayla Foster each notched a goal and an assist and Billings stopped all six shots she faced. Humiston’s first-half goal put MUHS on top, and Foster and Lily Smith added goals after intermission. Savannah Rogers made eight saves for the 4-10-1 Patriots.
