Otter football steamrolls another opponent — this time it was BFA
BRANDON — The top-seeded Otter Valley Union High School football team had little trouble in a Division III quarterfinal on Saturday, blanking visiting No. 8 BFA-Fairfax, 48-0, in a rematch of the 2014 championship game.
OV (9-0) moves onto a home semifinal this coming Saturday against No. 4 Mill River (7-2), which defeated No. 5 Windsor, 39-28, on Saturday. The Otters defeated Mill River, 41-6, on Oct. 17.
The other semifinal will be played on Friday night: No. 3 Woodstock (7-2) will visit No. 2 U-32 (7-1). The D-III final will be played on Nov. 7 in Rutland at a time to be announced. The Otters defeated Woodstock, 35-7, at home, in what has been their closest game of the fall, and won at U-32, 55-14.
Vs. Fairfax on this past Saturday, quarterback Carson Leary rushed for an unofficial total of about 300 yards and scored six touchdowns to pace the Otters’ second shutout of the Bullets this fall and third overall.
Leary also tossed a TD pass to Robertas Nielsen and threw for more than 100 yards. The Bullets, hit hard by graduation after upsetting OV in the 2014 final, finished at 3-6.
