Group seeks donations to improve Holley Hall acoustics
BRISTOL — People in the five-town area who care about good music, theater and community have kicked off “Let’s Hear It for Holley Hall,” a local campaign to improve the acoustics in Bristol’s Holley Hall.
Let’s Hear It for Holley Hall is being spearheaded by the Bristol Recreation Department in conjunction with Five-Town Friends of the Arts. The goal of the campaign is to raise $60,000 for a complete acoustics upgrade to Holley Hall, which was built in 1884. This much-needed and long-overdue project aims to benefit the five-town area immeasurably, improving the aural experience at concerts, plays, meetings, etc., for both performers and audience members alike. Increased performances at Holley Hall would benefit the area economically as well, backers said.
The Let’s Hear It for Holley Hall volunteer committee is led by Darla Senecal, Carol Wells, Rick Ceballos, Patrick Fitzsimmons, Deb Cossaart and David Gusakov. The group has been working for several months already to secure grant funding, plan fundraising events and coordinate donation. Last week they held a fundraiser at the Bobcat Café and Brewery in which the restaurant donated 20 percent of dinner proceeds to the effort.
In addition to last week’s event at the Bobcat, the Let’s Hear It for Holley Hall campaign will sponsor a series of fundraising events to take place the weekend of Nov. 20-22. The campaign will sponsor a contra dance at Holley Hall on Friday, Nov. 20, and a Moth storytelling event at the Walkover Gallery on Sunday, Nov. 22. More details on the storytelling event are forthcoming.
Let’s Hear It for Holley Hall welcomes donations in any amount. Checks can be made out to the Five-Town Friends of the Arts and sent to David Gusakov, 48 Mountain St., Bristol, VT 05443. Donations are tax deductible.
For more information about “Let’s Hear It” or to join the campaign, contact Deb Cossaart at 453-8421.
