Boys’ soccer: Tigers, Commodores ousted

ADDISON COUNTY — In high school boys’ soccer playoff action earlier this week, Middlebury and Vergennes were eliminated on the road in first-round play.
Mount Abraham, the No. 4 seed in Division II, and Otter Valley, D-II’s No. 12 seed, played on Wednesday.
No. 4 Mt. Abe defeated 13 Lamoille, 4-1. In Duxbury, No. 5 Harwood ousted No. 12 OV, 4-0.
TIGERS
On Tuesday, host No. 5 Mount Anthony rallied for a 3-2 victory over the Tigers. MUHS took a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes on goals by Drew Barnicle andOwen Hammel and took that lead into the break. But the 11-3-1 MAU team equalized in the second half and then got the game-winner from Garrett Derosia with just 15 seconds to go.
The Tigers finished at 6-8-1 under first-year coach Reeves Livesay, a four-win improvement over 2014.
COMMODORES
On Tuesday, host No. 1 Lake Region ousted the injury-plagued Commodores, 7-1. Tinder Kiely scored for 2-13 VUHS, and goalie Antonio Ruggiero stopped 11 shots.
EAGLES AND OTTERS
The Eagles finished the regular season at 9-3-2 to earn D-II’s No. 4 seed and were set to host No. 13 Lamoille (3-9-2) on Wednesday.
