ADDISON COUNTY — In area high school field hockey play last week, Division II Mount Abraham earned its third straight tie against the top teams in D-I, D-II Otter Valley took its first loss to D-I competition, and Middlebury fell to D-I’s first-place team.

The regular season concluded last week. The Vermont Principals’ Association was set to announce playoff pairings on Monday morning.
OTTERS
On Thursday, visiting Rutland avenged an earlier loss to OV with a 2-1 win. The Raiders (6-6-2) scored twice in the first 10 minutes, surrendered a goal to Allison Lowell later in the half, and hung on for the victory. Rutland goalie Emily Lanzillo made three saves for Rutland and Myliah McDonough had two for the Otters.
At 9-2-3, the Otters will earn the No. 2 seed for the D-II playoffs and finished undefeated against D-II competition, losing only to Rutland and top D-III team Bellows Falls.
EAGLES
On Wednesday, the Eagles rallied to tie visiting Champlain Valley 1-1. Eagle Jalen Cook scored in the second half, with an assist from Danielle Bachand, as Mount Abe erased the Redhawks’ 1-0 halftime lead.
Goalie Danielle Morse made nine saves for the Eagles, who entered their senior game vs. MUHS with a 4-6-3 mark, and Tashia Pashby-Rockwood stopped two shots for the 8-3-2 Redhawks. In their previous two games, Mount Abe tied defending D-I champion Essex and South Burlington, D-I’s first-place team.
TIGERS
On Wednesday, visiting South Burlington improved to 10-2-1 with a 4-2 victory over MUHS. Lauren Bartlett scored both of the goals for the Tigers, with Mikayla Humiston andMakayla Foster setting her up.  
Goalies Sophia Chicoine andKatie Billings teamed up to stop 16 shots for the Tigers, while Liz Sargent made 10 saves for the Rebels. The Tigers traveled to face the Eagles with a 4-9 mark.
