Otter Valley field hockey pins down No. 2 seed
BENNINGTON — The Otter Valley Union High School field hockey team earned a 2-0 win at Division I Mount Anthony on Tuesday that clinched for the Otters the No. 2 seed in the upcoming D-II playoffs and preserved their unbeaten record against D-I competition.
The Otters improved to 9-1-3 overall and 3-0-2 vs. D-I foes with one game left in their regular season schedule, at home vs. D-I Rutland on Thursday.
OV cannot be caught for second place in D-II, and after first-place U-32 lost, 8-2, to D-I Rice on Tuesday, the Otters could also take over first place if U-32 loses again this week.
The Vermont Principals’ Association will announce playoff pairings on Monday.
At Mt. Anthony this past Tuesday, Allison Lowell scored with 9:26 remaining in the first half to give OV the lead. With 10 seconds remaining in the game, Alyssa Falco scored to seal the win. MAU goalie Savannah Rogers made two saves, and OV goalie Myliah McDonough stopped three shots in working her fifth shutout of the fall.
