MUHS students earn top musician honors
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Union High School musicians Sophie Saunders, flute, and Haven Tate, bass trombone, have been selected to perform with the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME) Honors Concert Band in Nashville, Tenn., in late October. Only four students from Vermont were selected for this honor.
Saunders and Tate will rehearse for three days with other top students from around the United States, culminating in a performance on stage at the Grand Ol’ Opry.
Students from around the United States are selected based on their scores from the previous year for their All State Music Festival and an online submitted audition. NAfME will be holding its annual conference during this time with hundreds of workshops for music educators available.
Saunders and Tate are students of Anne Severy, band director at Middlebury Union High School.
