ADDISON COUNTY — In area high school field hockey play in the latter half of last week, Otter Valley won at home, Middlebury split a pair of games, and Mount Abraham tied twice against the state’s two top Division I teams.

OTTERS
On Wednesday, the Otters got a goal and an assist from Allison Lowell to edge Bellows Falls, 2-1. Chelsea Reed rapped home a feed from Lowell 19 seconds into the game to give OV the lead, but Bellows Falls’ Leia Robinson answered three minutes later. Lowell’s strike at 16:00 snapped the tie. BF goalie Brigid Hodsen and OV’s Myliah McDonough made one save apiece.
The Terriers held onto first place in D-III with a 6-2-2 mark; OV became just the second team to score twice on them. The Otters moved to 8-1-2 and solidified their hold on second place in D-II heading into a Saturday home game vs. Hartford; see story.
TIGERS
On Thursday, the Tigers avenged an earlier setback by edging host Burlington, 1-0. Lily Smith scored 11 minutes into the game to provide the offense, and goalies Katie Billings andSophie Chicoine teamed up for the shutout. Goalie Devin Libby stopped six shots for the 4-7 Seahorses.
On Saturday, visiting Champlain Valley improved to 7-3-1 by blanking the Tigers, 2-0. The Tigers dropped to 4-8 despite 15 saves from Billings.
EAGLES
On Thursday, the Eagles played defending D-I champion Essex on even terms in a 1-1 tie. Celia Heath converted an Ashley Turner assist in the first half for Mount Abe, while Sara Smith scored for Essex (7-1-3) in the second half. Goalie Danielle Morse made five saves for the Eagles, and Mady Corkum stopped four shots for Essex.
On Saturday, the Eagles battled first-place South Burlington to a scoreless tie. The 9-1-1 Rebels received five saves from goalie Liz Sargent, while Morse blocked nine bids for the 4-6-2 D-II Eagles.
