Leicester man killed in crash on Route 7
PITTSFORD — A Leicester man was killed in an early morning collision on Route 7 that closed the road through Pittsford for six hours on Sept. 18.
Vermont State Police said Bryan Greene, 43, was killed that Friday when at around 5:45 a.m. the motorcycle he was driving, a 1983 Honda Shadow, crashed head-on with a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero driven by Shane Goodrich, 28, of Rutland. Greene was pronounced dead at the scene. Goodrich was wearing a seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. Both vehicles were a total loss.
Police said that criminal charges are pending a complete investigation.
Police said the accident took place on a stretch of Route 7 south of Otter Valley Union High School just over the Brandon line in Pittsford. Traffic was diverted on to other roads.
Vermont State Police, the Pittsford Fire Department, and Regional Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene. The Brandon Fire Department handled traffic management.
Greene was born in Middlebury, grew up in Leicester and received his early education in Leicester Central School. He graduated from Otter Valley Union High School in 1989. He had worked as a machine operator, in mechanical assembly and in other jobs.
Family said Greene was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing and playing golf.
He is survived his wife, Stasha Bania Greene of Leicester, his mother and other family members.
