Boys’ soccer: Eagles tie, Tigers split, Otters bested
ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ soccer action in the latter half of last week, Middlebury split two games, Mount Abraham settled for two ties, and Otter Valley dropped a contest.
TIGERS
On Wednesday, the Tiger knocked off host Milton, 2-0, using second-half goals from Joao-Pedro Ribeiro andJonathan Fitzcharles to give first-year coach Reeves Livesay his first win. Tiger goalie Wilder Perera worked a five-save shutout, and goalie Alex Dooley made three saves for the 3-4 Yellowjackets.
On Friday, visiting Rice improved to 5-2 with a 4-1 victory over the Tigers. Duncan McCabe found the net for the Tigers, who will host Vergennes on Tuesday.
EAGLES
On Wednesday, Mount Abe and visiting Missisquoi settled for a 0-0 tie. Eagle goalie Nick Szczecinski made three saves, and Shane LaRoche stopped five shots for the 1-3-1 T-Birds.
On Friday, visiting Milton and the Eagles also battled to a 0-0 stalemate. Szczecinski’s three saves included stopping a penalty kick with six minutes left in regulation as the Eagles moved to 4-1-2. Devon Jackson made seven saves for the 3-4-1 Yellowjackets.
OTTERS
On Friday, Twin Valley, Division III’s first-place team, topped OV in the final of Arlington’s John Warner tournament, 7-1. Maxwell Williams converted a penalty kick for OV, and goalie Colin Nicklaw made three saves for the 2-5-2 Otters.
