OV field hockey edges Bulldogs

MANCHESTER — The Otter Valley Union High School field hockey team picked up a 1-0 win over Division II rival Burr & Burton on Tuesday to improve to 4-1-1.
That record is good enough to put the Otters in third place in D-II heading into a challenging stretch of games, starting with a Thursday date at D-I Hartford. On Monday, the Otters play at D-I Rutland, and later next week OV plays two games with Woodstock, as of Tuesday D-II’s second-place team.
Against the Bulldogs on Tuesday Allison Lowell’s goal midway through the first half proved to be the difference. Maia Edmunds set up Lowell in the center of the scoring circle.
The OV defense and goalie Myliah McDonough (13 saves) made that score stand up despite Burr & Burton’s 16-5 advantage in penalty corners. The Bulldog goalie was credited with two saves as her team dropped to 1-3-1.
