Eagles host cross-country meet

BRISTOL — Middlebury boys placed seven runners in the top 10 to highlight Tuesday’s five-team meet at Mount Abraham Union High School on a sunny fall Tuesday.
Henry Ganey won the boys’ race on the hilly Mount Abe course in 18:44 as the Tigers scored 23 points to outpace second-place Colchester (50). Rice (92) took third.
The Eagle boys, led by Jude Bunch in 17th (20:17), took fourth at 101, with Richford (122) in fifth.
Rice’s Charlotte Boyden breezed to the win in the girls’ race. Her time of 20:53 was more than two minutes better than runner-up Charlotte Kimble of MUHS (23:10), who led a group of three Tigers in the top 10.
Eagle Ally Hoff also cracked the top 10, taking fifth in 23:58, and Delaynah Leavitt was 11th in 25:41.
Only three girls’ teams had enough runners to score, and the race was close: Colchester (41) edged MUHS (51) and Mount Abe (61).

U-32 INVITATIONAL
On Saturday, Tiger and Eagle runners also competed at the U-32 Invitational. The Tiger boys took fourth with 91 points behind D-II rivals U-32 (60) and Harwood and Montpelier (66 each), as David Dregallo and Willem Landis cracked the top 10. The Eagle boys were 11th out of 16 teams.
