VERGENNES — Vergennes police this past weekend arrested two men in domestic assault cases.
On Saturday, police arrested David M. Field, 44, of Starksboro and cited him for first-degree aggravated domestic assault of a woman at a Second Street home. Police allege that Field kicked the victim around the shoulders and neck and used a rubber object to hit her on the arms, bruising them.
The victim also alleged to police that she was threatened further harm if she disclosed information about the assault. Police lodged Field at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.
On Sunday, police arrested Mark Bougor, 59, of Vergennes and cited him for domestic assault at a School Street home. Police allege that Bougor grabbed his mother’s wrist, injuring it; squeezed her ribs, causing her pain; and threatened her. Police lodged Bougor at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.
In other incidents between Aug. 31 and Sept. 6, Vergennes police:
•  On Aug. 31 responded to a West Main Street noise complaint. Police discovered that a man had fallen asleep while watching a loud home theater setup, and he turned it off at their request.
•  On Aug. 31 took a report that a Vergennes Farmers’ Market flag had been taken from the city green.
•  On Aug. 31 were told by the city’s public works head that he had found names on trash that he had repeatedly picked up in the city green information booth. Police have been unable to find the people, who they said had Florida and Virginia addresses.
•  On Aug. 31 mediated a family dispute at a Main Street apartment building.
•  On Aug. 31 issued court diversion paperwork to a Northlands Job Corps student found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
•  On Sept. 1 mediated a dispute between Walker Avenue neighbors.
•  On Sept. 1 checked a report of a suspicious BMW in the Town and Country Trailer Park; it was gone when police arrived.
•  On Sept. 1 made sure that kids playing in the South Maple Street cemetery were doing no damage.
•  On Sept. 1 ordered to be towed a van that had been abandoned on School Street.
•  On Sept. 2 investigated an alleged sexual assault at Northlands Job Corps, a case that remains open.
•  On Sept. 2 directed traffic on Bowman Road while fire department personnel dealt with a significant leak from a propane tank.
•  On Sept. 3 responded to an accident on Second Street in which one car struck three other vehicles; police said this accident remains under investigation.
•  On Sept. 3 warned the driver of a car reported to have passed a stopped school bus at Vergennes Union Elementary School.
•  On Sept. 4 sent the department canine unit to Bristol to help search for a possibly suicidal person who had walked into the woods.
•  On Sept. 4 helped Vermont State Police with an accident at the intersection of Route 7 and Monkton Road. City police said they evaluated a driver for possibly driving under the influence of drugs, but determined he was not, and also searched his car.
•  On Sept. 4 took a phone complaint from a Creekview Housing resident that her ex-boyfriend was harassing her.
•  On Sept. 4 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Main Street.
•  On Sept. 4 served a relief-from-abuse order to a female Second Street resident.
•  On Sept. 5 took a report that a bright green kid’s mountain bike had been stolen from a Green Street home.
•  On Sept. 6 backed up VSP at a motor vehicle stop on Monkton Road in Monkton.
