Otter Valley soccer wins big; other teams split

ADDISON COUNTY — In recent local high school girls’ soccer action, Otter Valley posted the most one-sided win in program history, while Middlebury, Mount Abraham and Vergennes each split a pair of games.
OTTERS
On this past Friday, the Otters thumped visiting Bellows Falls, 10-0, easily the program’s biggest scoring margin in its decade-and-a-half history, and improved to 2-1 in the process.
Olivia Drew (four goals) and Abbie Pinkowski (three goals) led the scoring parade. Lexi Hedding andIsabelle Kingsley  each recorded a goal and two assists, Colby Reynolds found the net once, and Amy Jones,Emily Fox and Julia Lee chipped in with an assist apiece.  Goalkeeper Gabby Poalino stopped seven shots to earn the shutout.  
The Otters will play in the Black River tournament this Friday and Saturday.
TIGERS
On Saturday, the Tigers also piled up goals, defeating visiting Fair Haven, 7-0. Payton Buxton led the attack with a pair of strikes, both in the first eight minutes. Kess Moulton, Jessie Hounchell, Lauren Turner, Hannah Lawrence andHelen Anderson also scored, and Lawrence and Hannah Buttolph picked up assists.
Slater goalies Bekah Parent andKyra Trombley combined for 11 saves, while Tiger keeper Molly Campbell did not have to make a stop in earning the shutout.
On Tuesday, host Mill River edged the Tigers, 4-3. Andi Boe scored twice on first-half breakaways, on feeds from Lawrence and Anderson, and the score was 2-2 at the break. But the Minutemen took advantage of two defensive mistakes to take a 4-2 lead in the second. Anderson scored a late goal for MUHS (1-2), assisted by Annina Hare. Campbell made 10 saves before leaving after a late collision, and Riley Fenster stopped one shot in the late going.
EAGLES
On Saturday, visiting U-32 edged Mount Abraham, 1-0. The Raiders got a goal from Lillian Richardson midway through the first half and made it stand up behind goalie Natalie Lavigne’s five saves. Mount Abe goalie Zoe Cassels-Brown also stopped five shots.
On Tuesday, the Eagles edged host BFA-Fairfax 2-1. Casey Ober scored once in each half for Mount Abe, knocking in a first-half Ernesta McIntosh corner kick and converting a Cassels-Brown feed from long range in the second half.   
Cassels-Brown and Kamille Snell each played a half in goal and stopped two shots, while Bri Mossey made 18 saves for the 2-1 Bullets.
The Eagles’ game this coming Saturday at South Burlington was moved from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
COMMODORES
On Saturday, the Commodores suffered their second straight one-goal setback, 3-2 to visiting Montpelier. Cricket Basa scored all three goals for the 2-0 Solons, who received five saves from goalie Allison Chadwick.
Ciara McClay scored on a first-half penalty kick for VUHS, and Julia Johnson added a second-half score for VUHS. Commodore goalies Anya Sonwaldt andSarah Rathbun combined to stop seven shots.
On Tuesday, the Commodores improved to 1-2 by topping host Fair Haven, 5-2. VUHS erupted for four second-half goals after the game was tied at 1-1 at the break. McClay led the offense with two goals and two assists, and Shelby Gage,Megan Rooney and Felicia Armell scored a goal apiece. Caroline Johnston chipped in two assists, Shay Pouliot added one helper, and Sonwalt stopped a half-dozen shots.
