Walkers, get ready for Woofstock
MIDDLEBURY — Homeward Bound, Addison County’s Humane Society, is hosting Woofstock: Walk for the Animals, on Saturday, Sept. 19. This is the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year.
Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Memorial Sports Center in Middlebury. The 2-mile walk begins at 10:30 a.m. Dogs are invited and encouraged to participate. The event will culminate with a 40th birthday party for the shelter, complete with cupcakes, party favors and music.
The registration fee is $25 for adults and $12 for youth, ages 6-17. There is no fee for adults over 65 and children under 5. Individuals can pre-register online or at the event. All participants raising at least $50 will receive a special edition tie-dye T-shirt.
The top youth, adult and team fundraisers will be recognized, as will the winners of a coloring contest hosted by the shelter. The top youth fundraiser will receive an awesome “entertainment package.” The adult who raises the most will win a Neuton cordless electric lawn mower, and the top team will receive a private lunch for up to 20 people courtesy of the Grapevine Grille in Middlebury — a fajita bar with all the fixings. The winning team will also get to keep “Woofy,” the event mascot, until next year’s walk.
