VERGENNES — Vergennes police dealt with three incidents involving stolen or apparently stolen bicycles between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30.
On Aug. 28, police received a call from a High Street resident that bikes were being hidden in nearby woods by youths who then walked off toward Northlands Job Corps. Police found two bikes in the woods, one an aqua-colored Catalina that had been reported stolen from North Maple Street, and the other a black Trek model. Police said that incident remains under investigation.
On Sunday a Creekside Apartments resident reported that a bicycle had been stolen from an apartment porch, and on Aug. 25 a West Main Street resident called to report a possibly stolen bicycle had apparently been dumped in his yard. Police picked up that bike, which they described as a red and black kid’s model.
In other action between Aug. 24 and 30, Vergennes police:
•  On Aug. 24 contacted a woman in Colorado on behalf of a concerned ex-boyfriend.
•  On Aug. 24 dealt with a two-car crash on Main Street in which there were minor injuries; police said the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad took one person to Porter Hospital for treatment.
•  On Aug. 24 helped a motorist get into a locked car near the intersection of Main and Green streets.
•On Aug. 25 took a report of a phone scam in which a caller posed as an IRS agent and threatened a lawsuit over an outstanding claim.
•  On Aug. 25 checked the welfare of a Main Street resident, who was found to be fine.
•  On Aug. 25 responded along with VARS to Northlands, where a student had reportedly ingested synthetic marijuana; VARS took the student to Porter Hospital.
•  On Aug. 25 served two relief-from-abuse orders on a Main Street resident.
•  On Aug. 26 tried unsuccessfully to find a vehicle on behalf of Shelburne police.
•  On Aug. 26 took a report of an attempted Craigslist check fraud.
•  On Aug. 26 helped Vermont State Police with an accident at the intersection of Route 7 and New Haven Road.
•  On Aug. 27 found a pay stub in a pile of trash on a Hopkins Road pull-off, found the former owner of the stub, and arranged for him to pick up the trash.
•  On Aug. 27 helped VSP at a domestic dispute on Green Street in Waltham.
•  On Aug. 28 went along with VARS to help a drug overdose victim at a South Water Street home; VARS took the victim to Porter.
•  On Aug. 28 were told by a man that an unknown woman harassed him by phone, text and Facebook; police are still investigating this case.
•  On Aug. 29 cited Abigale Swift, 30, of Brandon for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving the wrong way on North Maple Street. Police allege her blood-alcohol content tested at 0.141; the legal limit for driving is 0.08.
•  On Aug. 29 were told by a woman who came to the station that her ex-boyfriend was harassing her; police referred the case to probation and parole officials.
•  On Aug. 29 accepted a cellphone that a citizen had found; police said it was an AT&T flip-phone.
•  On Aug. 29 ticketed a motorist for possession of 2.5 grams of marijuana and paraphernalia after stopping a car for an unlit plate light.
•  On Aug. 30 tried unsuccessfully to find a woman who was described as disheveled and had walked uninvited into a Main Street apartment.
