Otter boys soccer falls to Wasps in opener
BRANDON — Visiting Woodstock dealt the Otter Valley Union High School boys’ soccer team a 4-0 setback on Tuesday in the Otters’ season debut.
Coach Dick Williams said OV goalie Colin Nicklaw (14 saves) and central defender Collin Eugair both played well for his team against the 2-0 Wasps, who were coming off a 6-0 opening win over Springfield.
The Wasps led at the half, 2-0, and then added two goals in the final 10 minutes. Williams said the Otters had several good chances to score, and overall he was pleased with his team’s effort against the 2014 Division II runner-up.
“My players stood toe-to-toe with them most of the game, so I am very encouraged for the rest of the season,” he said.
