Opinion: ANwSU to study consolidation
To the residents of the Waltham, Panton, Addison, Vergennes and Ferrisburgh:
Due to the recent passage of Act 46, which was enacted last spring by the Legislature, supervisory unions such as Addison Northwest are being required to create a proposal for forming a supervisory district that unifies all member schools into one governance structure.
The school boards of Addison Central School, Ferrisburgh Central School, Vergennes Union Elementary School and Vergennes Union High School are seeking to form an Act 46 Study Committee with a plan to submit a proposal to the State Board of Education in January 2016. In the formation of this committee, the school boards are encouraging community members that have the time, interest and commitment to be part of this work, to contact us. Meetings will be held one to two times a month between September and December 2015.
All interested community members are asked to send a letter of interest to the ANwSU Superintendent of Schools JoAn Canning by Sept. 7. Community participants will be selected at their respective school board meetings during the September meeting. For further information please contact JoAn Canning at [email protected] or 877-3332.
JoAn Canning, Superintendent of Schools. ANwSU, Vergennes
