Vineyard to exhibit photos by Lincoln artist Victoria Blewer
SHELBURNE — Shelburne Vineyard’s Fall art exhibit, “Fall’s Call,” will feature the photographs of Lincoln artist Victoria Blewer beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1 and hanging through Nov. 30. An artist’s reception will be held at the Vineyard Tasting Room on Sunday, Sept. 13, from 2-4 p.m., where visitors can meet the artist and enjoy complimentary cheese and crackers. Wine will be available for sale by the glass.
“Fall is my favorite time,” Blewer said, “it seems so simple and so perfect.”
Blewer works in black and white, handcolors her photographs and notes that she “modified these photographs to appear painterly” blending the “vibrant color palette of September foliage with the autumnal cravings of the soul.”
Spare and quiet, these photos express her vision of the quiet cycling of the earth in autumn that recurs each year and her wish that “these images capture the peace and simplicity of Vermont this time of the year. “
Blewer’s photographs have been featured in the Boston Globe Sunday Magazine, Vermont Life, Vermont Magazine and Yankee Magazine, and her work has won numerous awards. Her awards include the Distinguished Artist Award for Two Dimensional Art at the Stratton Arts Festival, first place for Photography at the Washington Square Art Exhibit in New York City, and the International Women’s Competition at the Erector Square Gallery in New Haven, Conn.
Her work has been displayed throughout New England including the Harmon Gallery in Wellfleet, Mass.; the Fuller Museum of Art, Brockton, Mass.; the Hood Museum of Art, Hanover, N.H.; the Fitchburg Art Museum, Fitchburg, Mass.; the Alternative Museum, New York City; the Danforth Museum, Framingham, Mass.; Vermont State Craft Center in Burlington, Vt., and the Woodstock Gallery, Woodstock, Vt.
