On Route 7, right as you enter Middlebury, there is a Confederate flag hanging on a house. I feel that the flag is now a symbol of evil and sends the wrong message.
As we are one of the most welcoming states in the nation, I feel that it is giving visitors the wrong idea of our town. I think this will tell the visitors that we might be a racist town or a town that is not welcoming to people of different origins or skin colors.
When I first figured out that this was a Confederate flag it upset me because I feel that it is very important to be kind to people of all skin colors, especially with the recent shootings and things like that. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
