Middlebury Police Log: Father ordered not to abuse his daughter

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police issued an abuse prevention order to a man who had visited police seeking to retrieve his 17-year-old daughter from a Middlebury location on Aug. 1.
Police said the girl had left her father’s Pennsylvania residence to reside with her sister in Middlebury. Police issued the abuse prevention order after investigating the father, whom they have referred to the Counseling Service of Addison County.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Cited a local juvenile for driving under the influence following an investigation of a domestic disturbance at a Blueberry Lane residence on July 28. Police said their investigation revealed the juvenile had driven a vehicle a short time prior to the call.
•  Continued an investigation into the possible theft of a cabinet from an Ossie Road home on July 28.
•  Responded to a domestic dispute at a Cobble Road home on July 28.
•  Cited Robbie W. Devoid, 32, of Middlebury for domestic assault at an Ossie Road home on July 28.
•  Were informed that someone had damaged, and written graffiti on, the Middlebury College Public Safety building on South Main Street on July 29.
•  Responded to a noise complaint in the Meadow Glen Way neighborhood on July 29. Police said the noise allegedly came from a construction site, where workers insisted that they did not start prior to the 7 a.m. time set by local ordinance.
•  Cited Allen Jennings, 29, of Middlebury for cultivation of marijuana following an investigation outside a North Pleasant Street residence on July 29. Police said they found, and confiscated, three marijuana plants from the property.
•  Received a report of a man acting suspiciously in the Bakery Lane area on July 30. Police said the man was described as being around 6 feet, one inch tall with dirty blond hair made into a pony tail, wearing jeans and a red plaid shirt. Police could not find such a man and reported no damage to property in the Bakery Lane area.
•  Assisted mental health staff at the Hill House on Route 7 North with a suicidal woman on July 30.
•  Investigated a report of “suspicious activity” on the railroad tracks off Main Street on July 30.
•  Provided traffic control while a vehicle was pulled out of the ditch at the intersection of Ossie Road and Route 7 South on July 31.
•  Investigated a July 31 identity theft case involving numerous credit card applications and charges allegedly made to a local woman’s account with Kohl’s.
•  Were informed of the alleged theft of a purse from a Lindale Circle residence on July 31
•  Investigated a suspected drug overdose case on Route 7 South on July 31.
•  Served a temporary restraining order on a Cobble Road resident on July 31.
•  Investigated a report of a man walking in the middle of Court Square and almost getting hit by a car on July 31.
•  Issued court diversion paperwork to several juveniles who had allegedly been drinking alcohol at a Weybridge Street home on Aug. 1. Police visited the residence on a noise complaint.
•  Investigated a theft complaint in the Court Street area on Aug. 1.
•  Cited Cele N. Bisguier, 50, of the Bronx, N.Y., for driving under the influence on Court Street on Aug. 1. Police said Bisguier declined to submit to an evidentiary breath test.
•  Responded to a noise complaint in the Shannon Street neighborhood on Aug. 1.
•  Received into evidence a small bag of marijuana that had been found on the ground outside the Middlebury Short Stop on Court Street Extension on Aug. 2. Police said it was unclear who dropped the marijuana, which will be destroyed.
• Responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a Franklin Street residence on Aug. 2. Police said a woman allegedly involved in the incident had left when they arrived at the scene.
•  Cited Kris A. Chandler, 52, of Middlebury for domestic assault following an investigation at a Valley View residence on Aug. 2.
•  Responded to a report of a man sneaking around some bushes near a Monarch Court residence on Aug. 2. Police said they did not find a suspect.
