Opinion: State must keep its vistas clear
Vermont is a beautiful state — not only to those of us fortunate enough to live here but also to the many tourists who visit every year. They come to see our lovely farmland, long vistas, mountains, rolling hills, and quaint towns and villages. They do not come to see acres of solar panels marring the views. Vermont does not have or allow billboards, so why are we now looking to mar our countryside with acres of solar panels?
I understand the need for solar and alternate forms of energy, but do we need to do it at the expense of the beauty of our state? There are ways to install solar farms where they are hidden from view. We can be good stewards of our environment and countryside, as well as be good neighbors if we carefully plan where we put these solar installations. Let’s not ruin our beautiful state — let us act before it’s too late.
