Middlebury Police Log for July 30: Man cited for domestic assault
MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Travis Huestis, 25, of Middlebury for domestic assault and two counts of violating his conditions of release, following an investigation of a reported disturbance at a North Pleasant Street home on July 23.
Police said Huestis is scheduled to answer to the charges in Addison Superior Court, criminal division, on Aug. 31.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Assisted a homeless woman on Washington Street on July 20.
• Followed up on a dispute between two Creek Road businesses on July 20.
• Were informed of the theft of a specialized Epic mountain bike from the Marble Works business complex on July 21.
• Cited Melanie Sargent, 46, of Middlebury for driving with a criminally suspended license, following a stop on Washington Street on July 21.
• Responded to a noise complaint at a Jackson Lane residence on July 22. The individual in question agreed to turn down his music.
• Assisted a local parent who reported finding a bag of marijuana and a jar with a brown tar-like substance in his son’s possession on July 22.
• Assisted an employee of a local bank who had reportedly been threatened on July 22.
• Served a no-trespass order on July 22 on a man who was not wanted at the Middlebury Short Stop.
• Assisted a Creek Road resident who was having some mental health issues on July 22.
• Helped a homeless woman on the town green on July 22.
• Assisted a local resident who reported some unauthorized charges to a personal bank account on July 23.
• Served a no-trespass order on July 23 on a local resident on behalf of Vergennes Police Department.
• Assisted the Vergennes police with an investigation at the Middlebury Post Office on July 23.
• Cited Cheryl L. Barrows, 50, of Middlebury for retail theft, after she was allegedly caught shoplifting items from Kinney Drugs on Court Street on July 23.
• Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a Two Brothers Tavern employee who had experienced a health crisis on July 24.
• Took, to Porter Hospital, a drunken/suicidal man who was walking in the middle of Route 7 South on July 24.
• Received a report that someone had driven away from the Middlebury Short Stop on Court Street Extension without paying for gas on July 24.
• Assisted state police on July 24 with an assault that had occurred overnight in Ferrisburgh.
• Responded to a report that a van had been stolen from a Seymour Street residence on July 24. Police said the blue, 2007 Chevrolet Uplander was located.
• Received, for disposal, a bag of marijuana that had been found in a bathroom at the Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op on Washington Street on July 25.
• Were informed of the theft of a stop sign from the intersection of Shannon and Weybridge streets on July 25.
• Served court diversion paperwork on a girl who was found in possession of alcohol on Exchange Street on July 25.
• Took a drunken man from Middlebury College campus to his hotel on July 25.
• Assisted state police with a drunken man who had been taken to Porter Hospital on July 26.
• Warned three juveniles who had been walking in the waterfall under Main Street on July 26.
• Monitored reports of speeders on Ossie Road and Washington Street Extension on July 27.
• Served a no-trespass order on a man in the Cross Street area on July 27.
• Assisted Vermont State Police with a suspected domestic disturbance off Route 116 in Bristol on July 27.
