Marlins swim team equals its best winning record with another victory

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Marlins defeated St. Albans, 275-164, at the Middlebury town pool on July 16 to finish the Champlain Valley Swim League regular season with a 4-3 record, which according to team organizers is the Marlins’ first winning mark in several years.
The Marlins will hope to carry that momentum into this weekend’s CVSL championship meet, which will be hosted by the Town of Essex Swim Team. The Vermont summer swimming championship meet will follow the next weekend at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction.
Last Thursday vs. St. Albans, the Marlins dominated the relays, winning 12 of 15 contested events and earning an 84-21 edge in those races alone.
Four Marlins also prevailed in multiple races. Ellie Ross and Oliver Podushnick won three 12-and-under events each, Courtney White won three U-18 races, and Aislynne McGill won two U-8 events.
