Kimble discusses his art in ‘Wednesdays with Warren’ series

MIDDLEBURY — In conjunction with the exhibit “Warren Kimble, All-American Artist: An Eclectic Retrospective,” the Sheldon Museum in Middlebury will offer a series of “Wednesdays with Warren” gallery talks by internationally known Brandon artist Warren Kimble. His presentations will take place on Wednesdays at noon, on July 8 and 22, Aug. 12 and 26, Sept. 9 and 23, and Oct. 7.
Kimble’s sense of humor and enthusiastic flair will enhance museum visitors’ appreciation of this wide-ranging exhibit, which traces his long artistic career. Kimble came to prominence for his folk art, but since has concentrated on diverse themes, inspired in part by his residencies at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson. These themes include his “Sunshine” series, his “Widows of War” paintings and sculpture, and the more recent “House of Cards” and “Into the Box,” open-faced boxes that feature found objects and architectural assemblages.
The talks are free with museum admission. For more information on the exhibit or gallery talks, call the Sheldon at 802-3882117 or visit www.HenrySheldonMuseum.org. The Sheldon Museum is located at 1 Park St., Middlebury, across from the Ilsley Public Library.
