Panthers swim to road victory, Champs also compete

BURLINGTON — The Middlebury Panthers opened their Champlain Valley Swim League season on Tuesday by edging host Burlington Country Club, 222-214.
A trio of Panther swimmers won three races apiece to lead the way: Mary Ann Eastman, Ellie Ross and Oliver Poduschnick.
Devon Kearns added two wins, and the Panther 12- and 14-year-old boys and girls swept four relay races.
The Panthers are set to host Racquet’s Edge on Thursday at 6 p.m.
CHAMPS RESULTS
Full Vergennes Champs’ results were unavailable before Wednesday’s deadline due to a data transmission error. The Champs opened at Racquet’s Edge on Tuesday with a 411-83 loss.
Vergennes highlights included a win by their 10-and-under boys’ relay team of Parker Kayhart, Nate Muzzy, Ian Henderson and Carson Hoffmann; a victory by Hoffman in the U-10 boys’ freestyle race; and Will Clark’s win in the U-8 boys’ breaststroke event.
The Champs open at home on Thursday vs. Winooski.
