Free summer lunches offered to kids and teens

ADDISON COUNTY — The Addison Northeast Supervisory Union Food Service Cooperative is teaming up with a number of community organizations including Mary Johnson Child Care, Bristol Recreation, The Hub Teen Center, Lawrence Memorial Library, the Counseling Service of Addison County, Platt Memorial Library and summer recreation programs in Leicester and Bridport to provide free meals to kids in the summer. 
Free lunch will be available at drop-in sites in Bristol, Vergennes, Shoreham and Starksboro to children and teens 18 and younger, starting June 22, as follows.
In Bristol, lunch will be served at The Hub Teen Center Monday-Friday from noon-1 p.m. through Aug. 7; Holley Hall Monday- Friday, noon-12:30 p.m. through Aug. 14; Bristol Elementary School, Monday-Thursday, noon-12:30 p.m. through Aug. 7; and Mount Abraham Union High School, Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. through Aug. 7.
Lunch will be served in Starksboro at Robinson Elementary School, Monday through Friday, noon-12:45 p.m. through July 31; in Shoreham, at Platt Memorial Library, Monday and Wednesday, noon-12:30 p.m. through July 29; and in Leicester, at the Summer Recreation Program, Monday through Thursday, noon-12:30 p.m., through July 30.
Three sites in Starksboro will serving lunch Monday through Friday through Aug. 7: Brookside Mobile Home Park, 11:20 a.m.; Lazy Brook Mobile Home Park, noon; and Hillside Mobile Home Park, 12:15 p.m.
Free meals are available for children through open-site eligibility when more than 50 percent of children in the town school qualify for free meals. Individual eligibility at enrolled sites is determined by income levels below 185 percent of poverty levels.
