Pilots should pay for airport plan

There have been a couple of letters published in this newspaper in support of spending $3.5 million to the Middlebury airport. These letters are written by the people fortunate enough to own their own private planes.
There are about 40 planes docked at the airport, and the overwhelming number of flights at the airport are undertaken by these 40 people. We honestly hope they continue to enjoy their hobby and fly safely.
Just please don’t ask the rest of us to support your leisure activity. There are more probably than 40 in Addison County who collect stamps or coins and as far as I’m aware they are not asking for millions of dollars in taxpayers’ money.
We say NO to using taxpayer money for a private hobby.
