Many victorious in busy week at Ralph Myhre golf course

MIDDLEBURY — The Ralph Myhre Golf Course had a busy docket last week, with faculty-staff-retiree and alumni tournaments as well as the regular Thursday afternoon men’s golf competition.
On June 3, the course hosted the nine-hole faculty-staff-retiree tournament. In mixed-team results, the foursome of Cory Buxton, Karen Carpenter, Derek Hamel and Cindy Wemette carded a 34 to top the 37 shot by the second-place team of KJ Krasco, Sarah Raunecker, Abigail Copeland and Katie Cobb.
On the front nine, Gary Weiss, Murray Dry, Richard Romagnoli and Russ Leng shot a 37 to edge the second-place group of Mike Moser, Dean Ouellette, Mary Stanley and Bob Preseau by a single stroke.
On the back nine, the foursome of Brent Raymond, Mark Broulliard, Morgan Butler and Tom Raymond shot a 33 and won in a tiebreaker over the 33 also carded by Steve Goodman, Skip Brush, Joe Aiello and Bert Phinney. Taking third were Bernie Andrews, Bill Hatch, Don Dayton and Jim Dayton, who came in with a 35.
Closest-to-the-Pin winners were Greg McGray, Moser, Andrews and Alex Elias. Kevin Cummings and Phinney earned Closest-to-the Line honors.
On Thursday, June 4, the trio of Ed Sommers, Bernie Andrews and Fred Belanger prevailed in best-ball play, with Pete Mulgrew, John Betz and Dick Hodgson in second. Dayton Wakefield, Russ Reilly and Jim Hadeka were third.
Closest-to-the-Pin winners were John Myhre and Bert Phinney, and the low net scorers were Sommers and Jim Dayton.
On this past Saturday, the course hosted the All Reunion Scramble. Taking first with a 31 was the foursome of Matt Virtue, Bart Witmer, Tim Monaghan and Jamie Millard.
Frank Punderson, Jamie Preston, Victoria Crawford and Andy Waugh were next at 33, followed by Greg Birsky, Karen Birsky, Rick Hayes and Gary Hayes with a 34. Taking Closest-to-the-Pin honors were Ty Ralli and Greg Birsky.
