Commodore baseball rallies, but falls to Rangers, 4-3
ORLEANS — Host No. 4 Lake Region Union High School on Saturday fended off an upset bid from No. 14 Vergennes, 4-3, in a Division II baseball quarterfinal.
The 12-5 Rangers mounted a four-run rally off losing pitcher Hunter O’Connor in the fourth inning and then hung on as the Commodores rallied. O’Connor took the loss despite striking out a dozen batters.
Nate Rowell doubled and singled, and Chris Leach continued his hot playoff hitting with a pair of singles as the Commodores finished the season at 4-14. That record in the program’s return to varsity after a year at the JV level included a first-round playoff upset of No. 3 Milton.
