Tiger tennis teams blank Spaulding
MIDDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ tennis team blanked host Spaulding on Monday, 4-0, in a rain-shortened match, while the Tiger boys’ team did the same in a 4-0 home match vs. the Tide.
The Tiger girls improved to 8-1 with the result. They were scheduled to host North Country on Wednesday and are set to visit Harwood on Friday.
The Tiger boys, who posted their second victory of the spring, were set to visit North Country on Wednesday and will host Harwood on Friday. All matches are at 3:30 p.m.
In individual matches for the Tiger girls on Monday:
• At No. 1 singles, Marvie Avery, M, defeated Lizzie Tchautouridze, 6-4, 6-2.
• At No. 2 singles, Bree Cotroneo, M, defeated Whitney Renaud, 5-7, 6-1 (10-2).
• At No. 3 singles, Jesse Wulfman, M, defeated Emily Boisvert, 6-2, 6-4.
• At No. 4 singles, Faith Isham, M, led Shelby Jewett, 3-2.
• At No. 5 singles, Hannah Stoll, M, trailed Abby Savoie, 0-2.
• At No. 1 doubles, Charlotte Keathley and Claire Wulfman defeated Randy Dudley and Maddy Pletzer, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5.
• At No. 2 doubles, Monroe Cromis and Amelia Ingersoll, M, led Kayla Pelloni and Emma Fischer, 2-1.
The Tiger boys and the Tide had hoped to get in two team matches and played four eight-game single set matches, all won by the Tigers, before thunderstorms struck. In individual matches:
• At No. 1 singles, Bo Tran, M, defeated Yale Yang, 8-6.
• At No. 2 singles, Bob Avery, M, defeated Ben Evans, 8-5.
• At No. 3 singles, Nick Holmes, M, defeated Austin Burke, 8-4.
• At No. 1 doubles, Eric Podraza and Ben Silver, M, defeated Keegan Ferry and Chris Cambio, 8-4.
