Panther track and field tunes up at Albany meet

ALBANY, N.Y. — The Panther track and field teams recorded a number of top-five finishes last Friday and Saturday at the 31st Annual UAlbany Spring Classic, which featured teams from across New York and New England.
In the women’s events, junior Alexandra Morris led the Panthers with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash (59.28), while freshman Robin Vincent of Sutton, Vt., garnered third in the 1,500-meter run (4:48.10). Also on the track, Panther Lauren Bougioukas was fourth at 800 meters (2:23.11) and Jackie Kearney earned fifth in both the 100-meter (15.82) and 400-meter hurdles (1:12.57).
In field events, Panther junior Carly Andersen tossed the javelin to a second-place distance of 125 feet-4 inches, Emma McGuirk jumped to third in the triple jump (34 feet-5 inches), and Hannah Blackburn was fifth in the long jump (16 feet-11.25 inches).
On the men’s side, freshmen Ascencion Aispuro  (4:02.74 at 1,500 meters) and James Mulliken (50.76 at 400 meters) each posted runner-up efforts. Sophomore Jeremy Carter of Jericho, Vt., was fifth in the 400 (52.35).
Freshman Kevin Serrao (fourth in the 400-meter hurdles at 59.37) finished just ahead of classmate Tyler Farrell (fifth at 59.55). In the 4×100 relay, the Panther quartet of Sam Rives, Michael Pallozzi, Fritz Parker and Will Bain garnered a second-place time of 42.47.
In field events, junior Ian Riley tossed the javelin 167 feet-11 inches for third place. A trio of fifth-place efforts came from Conor Simons in the pole vault (13 feet-5.25 inches), Tyler Chaisson in the shot put (44 feet-3.25 inches) and Brenden Edwards in the discus (121 feet-1 inch).
Middlebury track and field will compete in the NESCAC Championship meet at Williams College this Saturday.
