Patrons, regular folks lament loss of Greg’s market

Readers of the Addison Independent, posters to online media and people on the streets of Middlebury are bemoaning the loss of Greg’s Meat Market, a beloved institution that served area families for more than three decades.
We publish a letter here that we received and encourage others who wish to share their feelings about this change in the local community in comments below this letter, on our Facebook page, and in letters to the newspaper.

Thanks to Greg Wry for all he did
An Addison County, Middlebury icon. How many of us have walked through the aisles of Greg’s hearing the voice, “Can I help you find something?” or “Good morning, you look well”? Plus a hug to many of his customers.
Greg’s Meat Market did very well. The true success was driven by a caring individual whose absence created a real void for many of us who relied on Greg’s products and personal service. Little is known of Greg’s caring, his generosity to the elderly and unfortunate.
I have known Greg as a friend and business colleague since 1981. I know of no one that I would trust and respect more than Greg Wry. I hope his future brings happiness in the years to come.
