Otters swimmers wrap up season at ‘Gold’ meet

BRISTOL — The Bristol-based Addison Otter Swim Team, coached by Peter Bicknell, competed at the Gold Championship March 13-15 at the RPI pool in Troy, N.Y.
The Gold Championship is the final meet of the season for the Otters. To qualify for this meet swimmers must have swum in at least two Adirondack meets in the season and achieved a qualifying time.
Otters that accomplished that goal were Allie Croke, age 10, in the girls’ 9- and 10-year-old 50 free, 100 free, 50 back, 100 back, 100 breast, 50 fly, 100 IM and 200 IM; Ethan Croke, 8, in the boys’ 8-and-under 50 free and 50 back; and Leah Croke, 12, in the girls’ 11-12 50 free, 100 free, 500 free, 50 back, 50 breast, 100 breast, 50 fly, 100 fly and 100 IM.
Also, Eliza Doucette, 9, in the girls’ 9-10 50 breast; Emma Huestis, 12, in the girls’ 11-12 50 free and 50 breast; Erich Reitz, 12, in the boys’ 11-12 50 free and 100 free; Emily Rooney, 12, in the girls’ 11-12 50 free, 50 back, 50 breast, 50 fly and 100 fly; and Tess Ruddy, 12, in the girls’ 11-12 50 free, 100 free, 50 breast, 100 breast and 200 breast.
Katie Mayer, 17, is the team’s only senior this year. This is her 13th year on the team, and she has attended the Gold Championship most of those years. Mayer made gold times in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 breast, and 200 breast.
