Tiger gymnasts extend winning streak before state finals
SOUTH DUXBURY — The Middlebury Union High School gymnastics team on Wednesday wrapped up its regular season and continued its success against similar, smaller teams outside of Chittenden County by defeating host Harwood, 114.85-103.9.
The Tigers were buoyed by first-place finishes by Hannah Stoll and Emma Snyder-White and a second and a third from Leah Raymond.
For team competition purposes, Raymond was the high scorer in the floor exercise, which was won by Mount Abraham independent Abby Perlee, who trains and travels with the Tigers. Perlee was also second in the all-around.
The dual meet was the team’s last before this Saturday’s state championship meet at Essex High School.
The complete individual results from this past Wednesday were:
Vault: 1. Stoll (MUHS), 8.42; Nell Tarno (Harwood), 8.25; 3. Chloe Kane (MUHS), 8.2.
Bars: 1. Mallory Dutil (Northfield), 7.8; 2. Aly Chione (MUHS) and Tarno (Harwood), 5.9.
Beam: 1. Emma Snyder-White (MUHS) and Dutil (Northfield), 7.8; 3. Olivia Beauchamp and Anna Buteau (MUHS), and Nikki Rosado (Harwood), 7.7.
Floor: 1. Perlee (Mt. Abe), 8.1; 2. Raymond (MUHS), 8.05; 3. Kane, (MUHS), 7.9.
All Around: 1. Perlee (Mt. Abe), 29.45; 2. Tarno (Harwood), 29.1; 3. Raymond (MUHS), 27.85.
