Tiger girls’ hockey team red hot vs. rival Rebels

SOUTH BURLINGTON — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team breezed to a win in its only game last week, topping host South Burlington on Wednesday, 7-2.
The 12-3 Tigers remain neck-and-neck with Northfield and Essex for first place in Division I. They face D-I home games this week, vs. Rutland on Wednesday and defending champion Essex on Saturday. Faceoff times for both are 7 p.m.
Against the 5-9 Rebels last week, MUHS took a 4-0 first-period lead, and six Tigers scored in the game. Helen Anderson led the way with two goals, Julia Carone had a goal and two assists, and Andi Boe recorded a goal and an assist.
Emma Best, Monroe Cromis and Tulley Hescock also found the net, and Lauren Bartlett, Angela Carone, Abby Gleason and Sara Kelley picked up assists. Baily Ryan backstopped the win with 13 saves, while two Rebel goalies combined for 19 stops.
