Eagle girls win 9th Lake Division hoop game

BRISTOL — The Mount Abraham Union High School girls’ basketball team on Tuesday bolted to a 14-3 lead on the way to a 37-29 victory over visiting Colchester.
The Eagles remained unbeaten against Lake Division opponents at 9-0, won their fourth straight game and eighth in nine outings, and improved to 10-5 overall. Unofficially, Tuesday’s win moved Mount Abe at least temporarily into third place in Division II heading into a Friday game at Middlebury.
Against the 4-10 Lakers, Emma Carter (16 points) and Jen Gordon (nine) led the Eagle offense.
Five other area high school basketball games scheduled for Tuesday were postponed. The Vergennes and Otter Valley boys and girls and Middlebury girls had all been set to play.
