Swimmers fare well at meet hosted by Norwich
NORTHFIELD — Middlebury Aquatic Club swimmers fared well on Sunday at the Central Vermont Swim Club Pentathlon at Norwich University, with MAC swimmers Thomas Denton and Archie Milligan winning their age groups and Meghan Denton and Mary Ann Eastman each placing third.
The meet encouraged swimmers to swim all five of their age-group events (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and individual medley). Results were scored for each of the swimmers who swam all five events to determine the top three finishers for each age and gender group.
Thomas Denton won the 9-and-10-year-old boys’ title, sweeping all five of his races, while Milligan won two of five races and finished no lower than third in any event to win his title.
Meghan Denton was third in the 8-and-under girls’ group, while Eastman matched that placing in the 13-14 girls’ group.
Eastman and Ellie Ross, who won an 11-12 girls’ race, each also achieved a qualifying time in one event for the 12-and-Under New England Age Group Championship Meet.
