Tiger girls’ hockey still in first in D-I after win
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team defeated visiting Rice, 2-1, on Saturday, to hold onto first place in Division I with a 10-2 record. Northfield is in second at 10-2-1.
The Tigers face two tough home games this week: Fourth-place Burr & Burton, the team the Tigers edged in the 2014 D-II final, visits on Wednesday, and fifth-place St. Albans, a perennial D-I power, visits on Friday. Both games are set for 5 p.m.
This past Saturday, the Tigers used two second-period goals to overcome a 1-0 deficit after the first period. Molly Wetmore tied the game, and Andi Boe netted the game-winner shortly afterward.
Tiger goalie Baily Ryan stopped eight shots, while Emma Forgione stopped 18 shots for Rice (4-7-1).
