ACTR dispatcher Marcia Brown retires in December

MIDDLEBURY — After 16 years as a dispatcher at Addison County Transit Resources (ACTR) in Middlebury, Marcia Brown retired in December 2014. During her last weeks at ACTR, Brown was showered with cards and phone calls from community members and riders she had served so well. An open house luncheon was also held in her honor at the Community Transportation Center.
“Dispatching is critically important to our transportation system and requires excellent customer service skills,” Senior Manager Shari Lutton said. “Marcia was so good at making people feel cared for that riders often asked to speak directly to her.”
Brown arranged transportation for thousands of people during her 16-year career. She says her work was fulfilling and she will miss the friends she has made over the years.
“I have talked to and met a lot of interesting people. Never a dull moment,” Brown said, adding, “There have been a lot of changes — going from a two-room office when I started to the two-story building and garage that we have now. I’m going to miss everyone but it is time.”
ACTR will continue to forward notes and cards to Marcia from her friends in the community. ACTR’s mailing address is PO Box 532, Middlebury, VT 05753.
