Host Milton defeats Tiger girls’ hoop

FAIR HAVEN — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ basketball team on Tuesday defeated host Fair Haven for the second time in four days, but this time it proved more difficult.
On the previous Friday, the Tigers had coasted to a 22-point home win, but this time they had to hang on for a 66-65 victory. MUHS never trailed, but the 2-8 Slaters hung in as Lucas Czarnecki tossed in 28 points and Darren Brown added 14.
The Tigers countered by placing three players in double figures: Bryce Burrell (18 points), Austin Robinson (17) and Gordon Oakley (16) combined for 51 points.
The Tigers improved to 6-3 and moved into the No. 8 slot in the Division I standings with the victory, but next face undefeated first-place Burr & Burton on Saturday on the road.
