Girls’ hockey: Tigers blank Northfield in tournament

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School on Dec. 30 dealt visiting Northfield its first loss of the season, 4-0. The Tigers improved to 5-2, while the Marauders dropped to 7-1 as the Tigers avenged an opening game loss to Northfield.
The game was the last in the Tigers’ holiday tournament. Northfield earned the tourney title over Burr & Burton and Spaulding. Each team finished 1-1, but Northfield prevailed on total points in the event’s scoring system.
MUHS scored three times in 1:16 of the second period to break the game open. Andi Boe tallied twice and Julie Carone and Angela Carone added a goal apiece for the Tigers, while Rowan Hendy made 17 saves. Marauder goalie Analise Morvan stopped seven shots.
The Tigers’ Saturday home game vs. North Country was postponed.
