THT offering just what you need for New Year’s Eve

MIDDLEBURY — There’s no need to travel far on New Year’s Eve, as Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater offers two completely different events to ring in 2015.
For those who want a rockin’ New Year’s Eve, THT presents local favorites the Doughboys, playing a mix of classic rock and Motown songs that’s perfect for dancing.
A cash bar and snacks will be available. A special part of the evening comes at midnight, when a free champagne toast happens on the porch of theater, as the Great Bell of Middlebury rings in the New Year. Music begins at 8 p.m., and the party continues to 1 a.m. Tickets are only $15.
For those who want an elegant New Year’s Eve, THT is partnering once again with historic Middlebury Inn. “We like to give people a choice,” THT Executive Director Doug Anderson said. “You can have an elegant meal and cabaret at the inn, or boogie the year away at the theater. Or both!”
The cabaret, which takes place in the Founder’s Room during dessert, features Alisa Endsley, who starred in “Sunset Boulevard” in London’s West End and has performed throughout the world. “Alisa is now spending equal amounts of time in New York and across the lake in Westport,” Anderson said, “so we’re thrilled to be able to get a world-class talent like her for our New Year’s cabaret.” Jenn Moore will accompany Endsley at the piano.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a reception in the lobby of the inn. Dinner is served in the beautiful Founder’s Room at 7:30, with the cabaret starting around 9.
The event at the Middlebury Inn ends around 10 p.m., but everyone at the inn is invited to walk across the street and get free admittance to the dance at Town Hall Theater, which will be in full swing. Tickets to the Middlebury Inn event are $85, plus tax. The ticket price includes the reception, the show, the meal, gratuities, and wine with dinner.
Tickets may be purchased at www.townhalltheater.org, 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Monday-Saturday, noon-5 p.m.), or at the Middlebury Inn, 388-4961.
