Middlebury speed skater wins gold

MIDDLEBURY — Lacey Greenamyre of Middlebury won a trophy for first place overall in the 14-and-under division in the Charles Jewtraw All Around Long Track Speedskating Championship in Lake Placid, N.Y., on Dec. 12 and 13.
The 13-year-old, skating with the Saratoga Winter Club , medaled in all races. She placed first in the 500M, 1,100M and 1,800M races and second in the 300M. Her family reported that the majority of skaters competing at the meet were from Canada, including all of the ones Greenamyre competed against.
